‘Sick of it’ – Jamie O’Hara rages at Tottenham fans and ‘fraud’ Ange Postecoglou over Thomas Frank claims

Jamie O’Hara has expressed his fury at Tottenham fans after what he has seen said about Thomas Frank.

Frank took over at Tottenham in the summer after Ange Postecoglou was sacked despite winning the Europa League, having finished 17th in the Premier League.

Spurs impressed against PSG in the Super Cup and made a decent start to the campaign under the former Brentford boss, but form has tailed off and become much more inconsistent over the past couple of months, creating questions around the direction of the team.

Tottenham’s 1-0 home loss to Chelsea was a particular low point as the London rivals strolled to victory without needing to get out of second gear, but the club are still fifth in the table as things stand.

O’Hara furious about Thomas Frank criticism

Speaking live on talkSPORT former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara launched an passionate defence of Frank to Spurs fan Adam Richman, while criticising online claims that it was wrong to sack Postecoglou.

He said: “What’s annoying me at the minute is I’m seeing a lot of stuff on social media of Spurs fans saying we made a mistake with Thomas Frank.

“And I’m seeing a lot of this one in-dressing-room moment that Ange Postecoglou had when we got to the final of the Europa League. Everyone’s saying, ‘we’ve made a mistake, look at this guy’, and then there’s a moment of him standing on the side[line] shouting at players to pass it forward, these two moments I’ve seen of Ange Postecoglou.

“And now Spurs fans are going back to ‘we made a big mistake, we should have kept Ange’. A lot of Tottenham fans are saying it.

“And I’m getting quite sick of it because Thomas Frank is a top manager, he’s a brilliant manager. He’s come in with an average squad of players, with a few stars here and there with [Cristian] Romero and [Micky] Van de Ven, but an average squad of players and we are sitting, really, in a half-decent position in the Premier League.

“And he’s just started. He needs two or three transfer windows to get the best out of this group of players. Some of them will leave and we’ll get new players in, but to say that we’ve made a mistake with Thomas Frank I think is remarkable.

“But to go and say we should have stuck with Ange is absolutely ridiculous. The guy was a fraud in my opinion.

Tottenham had to change

Postecoglou will rightly forever hold his place in Spurs history after the Europa League triumph over Man United, but a change in the dug out was inevitable after the league season he oversaw.

Granted, he seemingly turned his attentions towards Europe later in the campaign but things were hardly humming along domestically before that.

Even if the Australian had started the new season well there would have been deafening calls for him to go once things started to slip, given his overall record in charge.

Frank may or may not be the right man for Tottenham in the long run but he has shown enough up to this point to be given the benefit of the doubt, and a positive January transfer window might make all the difference.
