Semenyo ‘to snub Man Utd to sign for Tottenham’ after Sky Sports update

Tottenham and Manchester United are both linked with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham have already missed out on several transfer targets this summer after wasting time deliberating over the future of Ange Postecoglou.

However, the Lilywhites have enjoyed their recent clashes with Manchester United and beat the Red Devils four times this season, including in the UEFA Europa League final.

And it looks as though they could now be set for a victory off the pitch after an update on Semenyo.

Semenyo wants to play in the UEFA Champions League

As reported by Sky Sports (10 June), Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Semenyo.

However, United also remain admirers of the Bournemouth forward, and while Semenyo has not yet ruled out a move to Old Trafford, the 25-year-old favours a move to a club in the Champions League.

This puts Tottenham in the driving seat after they qualified for next season’s Champions League by beating Manchester United in Bilbao.

Semenyo could become the first of many players to snub Man United for Tottenham this summer.

The Manchester club are currently leading the race for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. However, that situation could also change in the blink of an eye, with Tottenham set to appoint Thomas Frank.

It is thought that Frank and Mbeumo share a close bond, and the Dane is keen to bring the forward with him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The delayed decision over Postecoglou has reduced transfer movement, but with their managerial situation almost sorted, Tottenham could be preparing a massive comeback.

Tottenham should accelerate efforts for Semenyo

Tottenham cannot afford to be humiliated by United this summer. Therefore, they need to accelerate a deal for Semenyo.

The Lilywhites will play Champions League football next season and have yet to make any meaningful attempts to strengthen their squad.

Frank’s appointment should help as potential transfer targets will now know who is in charge and will be more likely to commit to Spurs, while the new manager can have a say on incomings.

However, if it was not clear before, Tottenham must make a start to avoid missing out on important transfers this summer.
