Tottenham exit: Ryan Mason odds plummet after shock Postecoglou sack news

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is set to be sacked by the North Londoners at the end of the season, even if he wins the Europa League.

According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the writing is already on the wall for the Australian, who has endured a woeful domestic campaign with Spurs.

Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest on Monday somehow marked their 18th defeat in the Premier League this season.

But Spurs have successfully navigated their way to the Europa League semi-finals, where they clash with Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt next month.

Ryan Mason becomes favourite for West Brom job

Postecoglou’s seemingly imminent Spurs exit could also see coach Ryan Mason leave the North London club at the end of the season.

The former Tottenham interim boss has emerged as the BetVictor favourite to become West Brom’s new manager at 2/1, via Oddschecker, after the Baggies sacked Tony Mowbray on Monday.

Postecoglou sack decision will be harsh if Spurs win the Europa League

Tottenham have had a poor Premier League season, and Postecoglou cannot hide from that as his side can still finish as low as 17th in the top flight.

However, Spurs should fancy their chances of getting past Bodo/Glimt and booking their spot in this season’s Europa League final, where they could face either Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao.

Spurs are on inconsistent form

If Postecoglou guides Tottenham to the Europa League title, it will be the North London outfit’s first silverware since their League Cup triumph back in 2008.

If the Australian can successfully achieve that feat, he will write one of the best chapters in Spurs’ modern history and would arguably no longer deserve the sack.

Perhaps most crucially, winning the Europa League would see Tottenham competing in the Champions League next season despite their Premier League woes.

However, Postecoglou’s efforts in the top flight have been far from satisfactory, as Spurs are set for a bottom-half finish.

Big changes are coming, with multiple exits on the cards, it seems.
