Ruben Amorim sack: Odds shorten as Tottenham beat Manchester United

Tottenham beating Manchester United on Sunday at home seems to have amplified the sack pressure on Ruben Amorim, per the betting markets.

Both sides were in the bottom seven going into the game and a win would have eased pressure on either manager.

Ange Postecoglou was certainly the happier of the two managers as James Maddison scored the winner for his side to ensure they won 1-0 on 16 February.

Ruben Amorim in sack danger after Tottenham beat Manchester United?

Ahead of the game, the Portuguese was 25/1 to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, per Ladbrokes.

However, the odds have shortened on Amorim with him now being 16/1 to be shown the door by INEOS – the very same owners who put him in charge.

He was appointed to replace Erik ten Hag after the club’s dismal start to the season but things do not seem to have improved for the Old Trafford outfit.

They are closer to the bottom of the table than the top two and that’s a huge concern given how much money they spend and the revenues they generate.

Ange Postecoglou gets some respite after Manchester United win

While the same sportsbook has Postecoglou as the favourite to get sacked, he has gotten some respite after the result.

Fans were certainly worried about the club’s downward spiral and this game them something to cheer about.

While the performance wasn’t overly spectacular and was against an injury-ravaged United side, it was still three points to savour.

The club have struggled at home recently so this win could kickstart some sort of run and give them momentum to climb up the table.

Finishing in the top seven is certainly not beyond this side and if they are consistent in the coming weeks, they can achieve that goal.

Clubs above them will certainly be dropping points and it remains to be seen if the Lilywhites can capitalise on it.

The board have chosen to show faith in the Australian and not sack him so they’ll also feel vindicated if he can turn things around and also put up a real fight to get the club to win the Europa League.
