Roy Keane makes Postecoglou ‘fixed up’ claim after what’s happened at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou is back on the market after being sacked by Daniel Levy at Tottenham despite winning the Europa League.

The Australian manager ended the North London outfit’s 17-year wait for a trophy by beating Manchester United 1-0 in San Mames to lift the European trophy.

With the Lilywhites finishing 17th in the Premier League, breaking the trophy drought wasn’t enough for the ex-Celtic boss to secure his future in N17.

Thomas Frank and Marco Silva have been linked with Spurs, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Postecoglou back in the dugout elsewhere.

Postecoglou set for next job already after winning Europa League with Tottenham

Roy Keane expects Postecoglou to be back in management soon after being sacked by Tottenham.

The Man United icon feels the Australian manager may be “fixed up” soon as he won the Europa League at the North London outfit.

Keane admits Spurs’ domestic form this season was unacceptable, but he thought winning silverware would give the 59-year-old head coach more time in N17.

Speaking on ITV (7 June, 16:48), the former midfielder said: “Winning the trophy was a great day for the club, no doubt. And obviously, the big plus is getting back in the Champions League. But looking at the league form, not just this season but the end of last season, they felt that wasn’t good enough.

“It’s always sad to see a manager lose his job. You’d like to think Ange would be fixed up pretty quickly because of the fact that he won a trophy.

“Spurs have obviously focused, particularly in their statement, that the league form over the last year, year-and-a-half hasn’t been good enough, and it has been really poor, obviously. But you’d think the trophy would’ve given him an opportunity to stay a bit longer.”

Postecoglou deserved another go at Tottenham

Some Tottenham fans have slammed Levy for sacking Postecoglou after he became the only manager to win a trophy for them in almost two decades.

The North London outfit will play Champions League football next season, and the Australian manager deserves massive credit for it.

Spurs’ co-chairman failed to assemble a competitive squad in the current campaign, and his recruitment strategy fell short of expectations.

Postecoglou was forced to play Archie Gray as one of his centre-backs due to several fitness issues at Tottenham.

The North London outfit also evidently lacked an attacking threat due to Son Heung-min and Richarlison picking up consistent knocks.

It wasn’t until the final days of the winter transfer window that Levy signed Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel to bolster the Australian manager’s squad.

The ex-Celtic boss showed in the Europa League that with crucial players fit, the Lilywhites were a much better team.

Spurs supporters are now in for their fifth manager since 2019, and Levy should pray his decision at Tottenham doesn’t backfire.
