Rodrigo Bentancur exit ‘set in stone’ as Tottenham move to sign new midfielder

Tottenham have already begun work on new transfers and that seems to spell the end of the road for Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Uruguay international has been in and out of the team this season due to form and fitness issues.

His contract runs out in the summer of 2026 so this appears to be the last major window Spurs can get something for him.

Benjamin Cremaschi on the radar as Tottenham make transfer checks

A new midfielder is understood to be a priority in the summer transfer window as Spurs hope to finish in the Champions League spots next season.

TBR reported on 16 March that they’ve made checks on Inter Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi who has emerged through the club’s academy.

At 20, he’s already made a name for himself and is tipped for big things in the future, with a move to Europe certainly being a possibility.

He’s even liked by former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino who picked him in his United States squad as well.

Ange Postecoglou may ask the Spurs hierarchy to cash in on Rodrigo Bentancur

If Cremaschi arrives in the summer, an exit for Bentancur could be set in stone.

The Uruguay international has struggled to consistently perform and go months together being unplayable in the middle of the park for Tottenham.

He has faced plenty of issues, and at 27, he is still an asset who could fetch the club some money.

Chances of Bentancur improving are slim and it’s not a gamble Spurs can afford to take at this point.

If there is decent interest in his services, Daniel Levy would be foolish not to capitalise on it and cash in on him.

Ange Postecoglou is also likely to ask the hierarchy to do that if he feels that the midfield is getting strengthened.
