Richarlison fires dig at Gabriel after Tottenham win v Arsenal, defender responds
Tottenham beat Arsenal 1-0 in the first overseas North London derby on Thursday, and there was no love lost between the sides.
Pape Matar Sarr scored from long range in the first half to secure the win for Spurs at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong (31 July), while there were impressive performances at the back to keep a clean sheet.
Richarlison started upfront and angered fans after missing a glorious chance, but he rattled the opposition well, and has now started a post-match battle on social media.
It is never a friendly clash between Tottenham and Arsenal, and Gunners defender Gabriel Magalhaes is now clashing with his fellow Brazilian.

Richarlison fires shots at Gabriel
Richarlison was somewhat surprisingly given the Player of the Match award after the friendly despite his miss, and he was eager to flex the award.
The 28-year-old posted a picture of himself holding the award after the game, and tagged Gabriel in the post on Instagram.
Gabriel missed the clash through injury, while Richarlison started upfront in place of Dominic Solanke.
Match stats | Arsenal | Tottenham |
Possession | 55% | 45% |
Shots | 15 | 9 |
Big chances | 1 | 1 |
Corners | 12 | 4 |
The Arsenal defender has now tagged Richarlison in a picture of his three consecutive North London derby Player of the Match awards, clearly unhappy with his Brazil teammate.

Richarlison was handed the Player of the Match award, but there were more impressive players, with Wilson Odobert shining and Sarr scoring again.
The Brazilian’s future is up in the air, and after failing to nail down a starting place in the last three years, he could now leave.
Solanke is preferred to him upfront, while there are now several wide options all ahead of him in the pecking order on both wings.
Richarlison could be a serviceable squad player, but despite his off-field antics endearing himself to supporters, he could be upgraded on given his wages.
Tottenham’s win was their first against Arsenal since 2022, albeit this did come in a friendly, and the Player of the Match award has typically gone to the red side in the last few clashes.
Gabriel picked up the award three times in a row, with two goals in the last two league meetings, and Arsenal clearly felt his absence as Spurs threatened with set-pieces in his absence.
