Richard Keys shares huge update on Tottenham takeover – ‘Done Deal’
Richard Keys has revealed that he was with someone this weekend who briefed him on the situation of the Tottenham takeover.
Qatari officials are understood to be keen on buying the North London outfit from the English National Investment Company (ENIC Group).
Daniel Levy is believed to value the club at £3.75billion and is not expected to bring down his asking price in the event of a sale.
Richard Keys issues ‘Done Deal’ verdict on Tottenham takeover
Keys is someone who’s been involved in football for decades and has undoubtedly cultivated a plethora of sources along the way.
Conversations have been taking place over new owners coming in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the current ownership being extremely unpopular among the fans.
While the beIN Sports broadcaster has been told that it’s a done deal involving the takeover, he does not believe things are that advanced yet.
He did not mention the identity of the source or who the favourites to buy the club are, but there is understood to be something afoot behind the scenes.
In his blog on 17 February, Keys wrote: “As for Spurs. It was good to see them back to something like their old selves. Good on you Ange. Oh – you’ll be interested to hear that I was in the company of someone this weekend that reckons a deal to buy Spurs is done. I don’t think it is, but I’m pretty sure conversations have been taking place.
“If so, I’d say this to Daniel Levy. Don’t play hard ball Daniel – you might regret it. I’m also hearing the owners of one of the top four clubs could be ready to sell. They’re arguably a better proposition for a buyer and would tempt a bid before Spurs.”
Liverpool or Arsenal might be up for sale?
Keys mentions one of the top four clubs and it seems unlikely that Manchester City will be sold and Nottingham Forest don’t really have the same kind of stature as Tottenham.
This could mean that one of Liverpool or Arsenal could also be up for sale and that would make things tricky for Levy.
Both clubs are better positioned in terms of on-pitch success and may be viewed as better avenues for potential new owners.
Spurs have a world class stadium and that could be their USP but the London factor is nullified given Arsenal are just a few miles away from the Lilywhites.
Levy needs to be made aware that time is ticking and if he fails to make this takeover happen and strike when the iron is hot, he may never be forgiven by the fans.
There may need to be some compromise that needs to be made regarding the valuation of the club as it does seem a tad high, as things stand.

Whether or not the Qataris continue their pursuit of the club, remains to be seen, but potentially interesting times lie ahead for the North London outfit.
