Gold: Tottenham plot January move for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly
Tottenham will revisit the possibility of signing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly during the January transfer window, according to Football London reporter Alasdair Gold.
While answering questions related to Spurs during his weekly Q&A on Friday (29 September), Gold was asked whether the club are still interested in a move for Kelly, when the window re-opens in January.
“Kelly will certainly be one of the defenders they look at. Postecoglou made it clear when I asked after the window shut that he was short at centre-back now,” Gold wrote.

“Kelly’s contract situation, with just nine months or so left on his deal, marks him out as a good homegrown option for a mid-season swoop and he fits Postecoglou’s system.”
Tottenham were linked with the 24-year-old towards the end of the summer transfer window but a move never materialised.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King tells Tottenham News:
“If Tottenham are going to get rid of Eric Dier then they will need a replacement in that department. Therefore, I would say a centre-back might be brought in.
“Ultimately it will all depend on Dier, because he isn’t going to want to stay at the club if he is going to be number three or number four.

“I think they have enough with Dier, however anything can happen injury-wise, so I would imagine the club already has a wishlist incase anything does happen to certain players in the team. Even Cristian Romero could pick up another couple of yellow cards before Christmas.
“Ultimately, in my opinion, the whole situation depends on Dier.”
