Report: Tottenham star Richarlison at risk of losing Brazil starting spot

Tottenham forward Richarlison is at risk of losing his spot in the Brazil starting line-up, according to Istoe.

The Brazilian magazine reported on Friday (13 October) that Richarlison, 26, has now gone six games without scoring for the Selecao with his last goal coming in the round of 16 in the World Cup against South Korea last year.

He’s since fired blanks against Croatia, Guinea, Senegal, Bolivia, Peru and Venezuela.

Istoe reports via their website that Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus looks likely to replace Richarlison as Brazil’s starting striker if his poor form continues.

Brazil’s next match is on Tuesday night (18 October) when they play away against Uruguay in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Ex-Spurs right-back Alan Hutton told Tottenham News:

“One thing I would say for him is he’s getting the opportunities. If he was playing and he wasn’t having chances and he wasn’t scoring it’s a real problem,Hutton said

Is he going through a little dip in confidence? Yeah, probably.

I think that’s probably the main problem at this moment in time but he’s getting in the right positions to score goals.

If he continues to do that I think he will obviously score eventually, the penny will drop and it will be fine.

“But is he going to get that time?

I think with [Harry] Kane leaving it gave him that opportunity, he’s probably not scored the goals he would have wanted to and [Heung-min] Son’s now sometimes playing that number nine, that lone striker.

So whether Ange looks in January to bring someone in, well see but I think [signing a striker] is always the most difficult signing to bring in during the January window.”

In other Tottenham news, Destiny Udogie could be a midfield option for Spurs based on how he’s been training with the Italy national team.
