Real Madrid want to sign Tottenham defender Cristian Romero – report
Real Madrid already have Tottenham defender Cristian Romero on their transfer radar ahead of a potential future move, according to TyC Sports.
The Argentinian sports channel, with over four million followers on X, has reported that the Spanish giants will look for a new enforcer in the “next transfer market”.
Romero has been labelled as the best defender at Spurs, and possibly the entire Premier League in glowing praise ahead of a potential future move away from England.
There are currently big question marks over Romero and his mentality, as he begins his three-match suspension in the upcoming clash against Wolves after the red card he picked up in the defeat to Chelsea.
Ex-Spurs defender Alan Hutton told Tottenham News:
“I think in past seasons, absolutely, that would be the side of the fence I would be on, a bit of a liability,” he said.
“There’s no questioning his defensive ability and how good he can be as a football player, but he just has that rush of blood sometimes. Before the sending-off, which could have been two red cards, honestly, when you think about it, how bad the challenge was for the penalty, then before that, the petulant kick out at Colwill which on another day could be getting sent off for.
“For whatever reason, he was really amped up, he was really raring to go and he just crossed the line. He’s a player if you try to take that out of his game, is he the same player?
“I think he needs that fire in his belly to play at a high level, something he is going to have to try and calm and simmer.”
