QPR new manager: Tottenham coach in major contention as shock exit announced

QPR’s search for a new manager might end up taking them to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

QPR have placed current manager Marti Cifuentes on a period of gardening leave this week, with the Spaniard having been linked with the vacant roles at West Brom and Norwich City [West Brom News].

It has been a shocking turn of events just days before the final game of the season, but the decision made by QPR has led many fans to believe that Cifuentes will not be in charge next season.

That has led to widespread speculation about who will end up replacing him, which includes a member of the Tottenham coaching staff.

Ryan Mason could be in line to manage QPR

Ryan Mason has emerged as a potential contender to get back into management at Loftus Road, with his betting odds making him one of the favourites for the role.

According to Gambling.com, Mason has 7/4 odds to be the next QPR manager, with a 36.4 per cent probability.

Only former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil boasts a better probability than him, with Mason clearly being seen as a possible candidate for the position.

Ryan Mason has also been speculated for another job

Even though Mason appears to be in line to potentially take on the QPR job if the Londoners part ways with Cifuentes, they are not the only Championship club he has been linked with.

The Spurs coach might leave the North London outfit at the end of the season to take on the vacant West Brom job instead, as he is one of the favourites.

The Baggies sacked Tony Mowbray after his short spell in charge due to the disappointing performances that they put together in the second half of the season, which led to them missing out on the playoffs.

Mason being in line for two different teams is a sign that he’s ready to get into management on a full-time basis, and this summer might be the time for that to happen away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
