PSG ace reacts to Wilson Odobert heroics in Tottenham win v AZ Alkmaar

Wilson Odobert is on cloud nine after scoring his first two goals for Tottenham in their 3-1 UEFA Europa League win against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Odobert was the hero for Spurs as they overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate at home on 13 March, finding the back of the net once in either half.

Making only his fifth start for the North London giants since arriving from Burnley last summer, the 20-year-old repaid Ange Postecoglou for the trust he showed in him.

Desire Doue tips hat to Odobert after Europa League win

Having contributed his first goals in Spurs colours to a winning cause on a big European night, Odobert took to social media to express his joy on Thursday.

“Let’s go! Happy to have scored my first goal for this big club”, the attacker wrote on Instagram (13 March).

“Thank you for your support. Come on Spurs.”

Desire Doue of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was among those who reacted to the post as he wrote “Odo” along with two fire emojis.

The two players know each other, having played together at different age levels for the France national team.

Meanwhile, Odobert also received reactions from several Spurs teammates, including James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham eye Europa League glory

Having beaten AZ Alkmaar in the last-16, Tottenham will now lock horns with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-finals in April.

Postecoglou and Co will be determined to progress further in the competition as it is their only chance of winning a trophy this season as they have been knocked out of domestic cup competitions.

The Europa League is also likely to be Spurs’ only route to playing in the UEFA Champions League next season as they are placed 13th in the Premier League with 10 games left to play.

They are 15 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, meaning they can already forget finishing in the top four this season.

Nevertheless, Tottenham will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, 16 March.
