Premier League club ready to appoint Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham sack

Ange Postecoglou might not need long to bounce back from being sacked by Tottenham.

Tottenham dismissed Postecoglou on Friday (6 June), after a historically poor Premier League season.

The Lilywhites finished 17th with 38 points and became the first team to suffer 22 defeats without being relegated from the Premier League.

However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom in North London. Postecoglou stayed true to his word and ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought after winning the UEFA Europa League in his second season with the North London club.

The impressive feat may not have saved Postecoglou’s job at Spurs, but it does appear to have caught the attention of another Premier League club.

Premier League club targeting Postecoglou

Over the last few decades, Tottenham have become known as a club that struggles to win trophies.

Therefore, while the Premier League season was difficult to ignore, winning a trophy with Tottenham has seen Postecoglou attract interest from several clubs already.

As reported by the Daily Mail (8 June), it is understood that he is already the target for another Premier League club.

It could be difficult for Tottenham fans to imagine a scenario where Postecoglou is on the opposing end of the pitch. Supporters grew fond of the Australian towards the end of the season, and many were disappointed to see him leave.

Tottenham have not finished their summer shake-up

There is a growing feeling at Tottenham that the club are preparing for a massive reshuffle.

Donna-Maria Cullen announced her decision to step down as Executive Director, while Ryan Mason was confirmed as Head Coach at West Brom.

Postecoglou came next and was not the only staff member dismissed by Tottenham in the last few days.

The Lilywhites also relieved his assistants Nick Montgomery, Mile Jedinak, and Sergio Raimundo of their duties, with Matt Wells and goalkeeping coach Rob Burch staying on.

Furthermore, Tottenham have now confirmed (8 June) their decision to sack the women’s first-team head coach, Robert Vilahamn, after an 11th-place finish in the WSL.

With more departures expected to be announced over the next few days, Tottenham could be unrecognisable next season.
