Premier League club impose near-total Tottenham transfer ban after Daniel Levy fury

Daniel Levy could be set to cost Tottenham in the transfer market.

The Lilywhites chairman hasn’t been far from immune to criticism throughout his reign in North London, after a controversial spell in charge.

This has certainly come to a head once again this summer after Ange Postecoglou was sacked despite winning silverware in his second season.

Now, fresh frustration could be set to begin with Levy after news of a transfer ban emerged at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham face transfer ban from Premier League club

Transfer business is yet to kickstart in E20 with the opening of the window coming up within days.

This is likely to spark plenty of business for Spurs to help provide new head coach Thomas Frank with fresh faces ahead of his debut season.

Links to the likes of Bryan Mbeumo have already emerged, while no incoming deals have yet been agreed.

With that being said, issues could be set to arise at some point in the window as the chairman in North London comes under fire once again.

This has been reported now by The Times (16 June) that a Premier League club “has imposed a near-complete ban on transfer dealings with Spurs”.

Levy has been put forward as the reason for this due to his desire “to protect Tottenham’s interests and ensure the club is financially self-sustainable”, which results in “a stringent approach to spending”.

Levy attitude could cost Tottenham in transfer window

There are certainly pros and cons to the work of the 63-year-old, some of which have helped the Lilywhites grow to the size they are at now.

This has seen the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium become arguably the best on earth for football, other sports and concerts.

As positive as this is, it can only go so far before supporters begin to grow frustrated when that revenue boost doesn’t turn into positive business.

Mathys Tel has now come in from Bayern Munich, and more star signings could be set to follow him through the door this summer.

There are no guarantees of that, and until the window is done, supporters will continue their reservations about Levy and his way of working.
