Postecoglou sack verdict shared on talkSPORT amid ‘Painful’ Tottenham admission
Alan Pardew says that Ange Postecoglou’s lack of willingness to change his system at Tottenham could be his downfall though admitted the injuries he’s had to contend with has been “painful”.
The North London outfit visited Everton on Sunday (19 January) and came away with a 3-2 defeat that flattered the away side after a 92nd-minute final goal.
The defeat means the pressure on Posetcoglou is only growing with conversations over his future rife.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (19 January, 18:36), Pardew offered his verdict on the Australian as he said: “It doesn’t bode well because Ipswich just coming off of that heavy defeat have lost 12 which you would expect. But you wouldn’t expect Spurs to have lost 12 in 22 games.
“Yeah, I have got sympathy because you ,when you lose key players you know it’s going to be painful. Sometimes you can work round it and it isn’t painful but nine times out of 10 your key players are painful and it reflects in your stats and obviously in your results and for Spurs that is definitely the case.
“Having said that, the game plan hasn’t changed to supplement the fact that they’ve had injuries. He’s kept it the same and that’s where they’re coming unstuck.”
Ange Postecoglou running out of time at Tottenham
As Pardew says, it hasn’t been the easiest of situations for Postecoglou at Tottenham this term with a number of key players unavailable through injury and undoubtedly, this has had a negative impact on the team.
However, that is not a fair excuse to use for an analysis of the whole season as Spurs were still losing games and showing their inconsistency when they had a fully fit squad available to them.
The Australian is stubborn and keen to play his own style of football even when he doesn’t have the players in the squad to facilitate that but that could prove to be his downfall.

To be a top manager, you have to be able to adapt to ensure your side are in the best position they can be and sitting 15th in the league certainly doesn’t suggest that this is the case in North London.
Daniel Levy may well find himself having to have a very good think over the next couple of days with the clock ticking for Postecoglou to improve things at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
