Postecoglou sack latest: Major Tottenham update emerges on Saturday afternoon

Ange Postecoglou has been under serious pressure at Tottenham despite delivering the UEFA Europa League.

Postecoglou ended a 17-year trophy drought at Tottenham after a 1-0 victory against Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao (21 May).

He also oversaw Spurs’ worst-ever Premier League campaign, which has left his future up in the air.

However, a new update may have just confirmed whether the 59-year-old remains in North London once and for all.

Postecoglou is likely to stay at Tottenham

Postecoglou excused Spurs’ poor league form with injuries and a full focus on winning the Europa League trophy.

But for many, including Levy, a 17th-place finish was unacceptable for one of the biggest teams in the Premier League.

However, Postecoglou looks to have had the last laugh as winning the Europa League may have just tipped the scales in the Australian’s favour.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Saturday (31 May), the chances of Postecoglou remaining at Tottenham have increased “in the last few hours”.

The current Tottenham coach promised his third season in charge would be better than his second during Spurs’ Europa League victory parade in North London, and he may well have just bought some time to make that a reality.

Tottenham should confirm a decision on Postecoglou’s future soon

Now that Postecoglou looks to be continuing at Tottenham, this decision should be confirmed officially.

With UEFA Champions League football secured for next season, Tottenham have been handed the perfect foundation to build on this summer. However, preparing for the new season will be tough as potential recruits will want to know who will be in charge before putting pen to paper.

As a result, Spurs should confirm that Postecoglou is going to remain in North London if this is the case.

That way, fans and players will have some clarity, which will make summer dealings much easier for everybody connected with Tottenham.
