Postecoglou sack imminent at Tottenham after what’s now happened – Richard Keys

Tottenham were beaten yet again as they fell to a heavy 5-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.

Ange Postecoglou is under huge pressure as Tottenham’s disappointing season has shown no signs of improvement, with Spurs 16th in the Premier League.

Tottenham made eight changes for the game against Liverpool knowing their priority is the Europa League, but their display was still well below the required level in terms of both quality and effort.

Even if Postecoglou wins the Europa League, he is likely to leave Tottenham, and broadcaster Richard Keys has now claimed that he could be gone very soon.

Keys makes Postecoglou sack claim

Postecoglou has had several public arguments with Tottenham fans and media in recent months, and his relationship with the supporters is at an all-time low.

Although winning the Europa League would salvage this disastrous season, it may not be enough to save his job, and many fans would still prefer a change in manager.

“The problem Postecoglou has got with the fans is so badly damaged that there’s no way back,” Keys told beIN SPORTS (April 28).

“I don’t care if he wins a trophy – it doesn’t save him.”

Spurs have not won a trophy since 2008, and the Europa League would be a significant milestone if they can win it, but there would still be little optimism that Postecoglou would turn things around next season.

Tottenham fans lose faith in Postecoglou

Tottenham have lost an astonishing 19 Premier League games this season, and this figure is likely to rise before the end of the season.

For a club of Tottenham’s size to potentially finish in 16th or 17th place is simply unacceptable, regardless of what happens in Europe.

A lot of fans had sympathy with Postecoglou given Tottenham’s injury crisis in the first half of the season, but this quickly evaporated as his stubborn tactics and clashes with supporters turned people against him.

Many fans are fed up over his lack of a ‘plan B,’ and Tottenham’s leaky defence as a result of his refusal to change style, and each fresh defeat makes him lose more and more fans.

While some would accept him staying if he did win the Europa League, for many the relationship is too broken to fix with one trophy after the season they have endured.
