Postecoglou sack decision ‘to cost Levy £15m’ after latest Tottenham update
Daniel Levy’s hesitation to make a decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham could be due to the costs involved.
Postecoglou has made headlines after an unconventional season with Tottenham.
The Australian led the Lilywhites to their first trophy in 17 years after lifting the UEFA Europa League.
However, the 59-year-old also set a record as Tottenham became the first team to suffer 22 Premier League defeats without facing relegation.
After a season of two extremes, Levy has a decision to make, as the costs behind that decision emerge.

Levy must pay £4million compensation fee to sack Postecoglou
Thomas Frank has topped Levy’s list of potential Postecoglou replacements for quite some time.
The Brentford boss had an impressive season, leading the Bees to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League.
Premier League 2024/25 | Position | Points |
Brentford | 10th | 56 |
Tottenham | 17th | 38 |
He has since become the bookies’ favourite to take over from Postecoglou, who has performed comparatively worse in the league.
But now it seems his appointment could land Levy with a pretty substantial bill.
As reported by The Telegraph (5 June), Levy faces a £4m compensation bill if he decides to sack Postecoglou, and that doesn’t include the £2million already owed to the Spurs boss for winning the Europa League.
Therefore, it is understood that the cost of replacing Postecoglou could reach well over £10million. In addition, Frank is thought to have a £9million release clause written into his contract with Brentford, which Tottenham must pay if they are to appoint the Dane.
As a result, sacking Postecoglou and appointing Frank could cost Tottenham and Levy £15m.

Tottenham should give Postecoglou another chance
Postecoglou accomplished the impossible when he delivered the Europa League to Tottenham.
This is a feat that should not be swept under the rug, even if performances in the league left plenty to be desired.
Now, with the backing of the players and Spurs supporters, Levy should give Postecoglou another chance to achieve another European title.
