Postecoglou sack call locked in at Tottenham as journalist shares secret info
Tottenham fans are waiting with bated breath to discover whether Ange Postecoglou will be their manager next season.
The rumour mill has been on overdrive ever since Postecoglou ended Spurs’ season by winning the Europa League.
Before that match, it seemed as if the Aussie was a dead man walking due to the club’s poor league form.
Now, after that 1-0 victory in the Europa League final, some are saying that Postecoglou deserves time to improve the team next season.
However, many are suggesting that the Australian will still be sacked, including some journalists with supposed access to insider information.

Guardian journalist drops hint on Postecoglou future
Journalist John Brewin has been keenly following developments at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, doing whatever he can to obtain a scoop on the managerial situation.
During an appearance on the Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast, he shared some information that he “shouldn’t reveal”.
He said: “Maybe I shouldn’t reveal the tricks of the trade here, but someone here, me, was asked to redraft the Ange is being sacked piece with the details of his, for The Guardian to go live with when it happens.”
It’s common practice for journalists to hold on to secret information until it becomes official so they can break the news quickly, and Brewin is an established name in sports journalism, so there would be no reason to doubt him.
He didn’t elaborate further, but most signs point to Postecoglou being shown the exit door within the next couple of days.
Tottenham must make Postecoglou decision quickly
The conundrum of whether Tottenham should sack or back Postecoglou has split the fanbase.
However, most will agree that an affirmative decision needs to be made quickly.
If Daniel Levy wants to pull the trigger, he should do it now to give himself as much time as possible to recruit a new manager.
In an ideal world, he’d get a new boss in the door as soon as possible, so that he has time to assess the squad and bring new players in to fit his plans.
Premier League final standings 2024-25 | Games Played | Points |
17. Tottenham | 38 | 38 |
18. Leicester (R) | 38 | 25 |
19. Ipswich (R) | 38 | 22 |
20. Southampton (R) | 38 | 12 |
If he wants to keep Postecoglou, his best move is to come out and say it now, so that the first-team squad and any potential new signings understand the situation.
It’s going to be a summer with many ins and outs in North London. The Lilywhites have already been linked with the likes of Jack Grealish and Leroy Sane as they attempt to build a squad fit for next season’s Champions League.
A confirmed decision on the manager for next season will make it easier for them to attract these types of big names.
