Postecoglou now in shock running to join Tottenham’s London rivals
Ange Postecoglou could be set for an instant Premier League return after being sacked by Tottenham.
Tottenham sacked Postecoglou on Friday (6 June) despite the Australian ending the Lilywhites’ 17-year trophy drought by winning the UEFA Europa League.
The Australian manager had promised Spurs supporters a season three after winning silverware during his second season. However, the show was axed before scripts could be finalised.
Despite this, Postecoglou could still get a third season in the Premier League, and might not even need to leave London.

Postecoglou in the running to replace Thomas Frank at Brentford
Tottenham are widely reported to be on the verge of appointing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as Postecoglou’s successor in North London.
Frank has already said his goodbyes in West London with a move across the capital now close [Hounslow Herald].
Team | MP | W | D | L | Pts |
10. Brentford | 38 | 16 | 8 | 14 | 56 |
17. Tottenham | 38 | 11 | 5 | 22 | 38 |
As a result, the Bees will need a replacement for their boss of nearly a decade, and the betting markets have positioned Postecoglou as an option.
It was previously reported that the 59-year-old had caught the eye of one Premier League side [Daily Mail].
And Bet365 have Postecoglou at 20/1 to become the next Brentford boss, while Justin Cochrane is the favourite at 4/7, with Kieran McKenna closely behind him.
There is every chance that the Australian could climb the ranks over the coming weeks as Tottenham nail down the appointment of Frank.
Not only is Postecoglou a proven winner, but the Bees may take pleasure in appointing the former manager of the club who swooped in for theirs.

Tottenham must complete the appointment of Frank
It does not seem like Spurs supporters will have to wait too long to know who their next manager will be.
There will undoubtedly be reservations about releasing a serial winner and replacing him with someone whose accomplishments with Brentford came mostly in the Championship.
However, it is remarkable how Frank transformed the West London side into a competitive mid-table Premier League club with few resources at his disposal.
It makes one think what he could achieve with the time and money he could be given at Tottenham.
The Lilywhites must finalise Frank’s appointment soon so that they can begin to work on summer transfers. Deliberations on Postecoglou slowed down their interventions in the summer transfer market.
However, with Postecoglou’s departure confirmed and Tottenham slowly closing in on Frank, Spurs will soon be able to enter the market without restraints.
