Postecoglou in desperate situation as Redknapp shares ‘massive’ Tottenham issue
Tottenham have had it rough this season, nothing seems to be going their way in any of the competitions they’ve taken part in.
At the moment, they’re sitting 14th in the Premier League table but only one point separates them from 16th-placed Everton.
Their main chance of a trophy has now also been thrown out after they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
Of course, they still have the FA Cup and the Europa League to fight for but, seen, as though they were already in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, that trophy felt like the best way for Ange Postecoglou to try and silence the doubters.
However, now that’s off the cards, he seemingly needs to find another way to prove himself.
Harry Redknapp shares his thoughts on Tottenham
It’s undeniable that one of Spurs’ main problems this season has been the sheer amount of injuries they’ve faced, particularly in their defence.
While other areas of their team have also been hindered significantly by injuries, the fact that Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have missed the vast majority of the season has massively impacted the effectiveness of Spurs’ defence.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (7 February, 08:11am), Harry Redknapp shared his thoughts on the way Tottenham have performed this season and what he believes their “massive problem” has been.
“The manager, I really want to see him succeed, look at some managers from the last few years, top managers, look how the other managers they’ve sacked are doing,” he said.
“Mourinho is doing well, Conte is up there near the top in Italy, Nottingham Forest is flying [Nuno Espirito Santo], but they’ve all come and gone, you need good players as you know, they’ve had injuries that have been a massive problem as well, they really have at the back, he’s desperately short of central defenders.
“So, he just needs to be given time, get his players back, give him a full squad to work with and see what he can do but I’m a fan of his, I want to see him succeed, I’d hate to see them suddenly cast him aside as well.”

Ange Postecoglou deserves more time in North London
While Tottenham fans may be starting to get fed up with the way their team is playing at the moment, it feels like the Australian needs to be cut some slack due to the sheer amount of injuries he’s had to contend with.
Some new additions were made in the dying embers of the winter transfer window and even though players such as Kevin Danso should positively impact the way things are going at Spurs, it’ll take some time for them to settle in and get up to speed.
The Premier League is already more or less a write-off for Tottenham due to where they currently sit in the standings.
However, as they still have a chance at the Europa League and the FA Cup, it feels like Daniel Levy is likely to give Postecoglou the benefit of the doubt for now.
This may seem a little backwards to fans but at the moment, Postecoglou is patching a very broken team together and it feels like he’s doing whatever he can to field a starting XI.
