Postecoglou ‘has enough’ as unseen moment emerges after Tottenham loss v Chelsea

Ange Postecoglou may have had enough at Tottenham following his side’s latest defeat in the Premier League.

Spurs were defeated by a goal to nil against London rivals Chelsea in a game that supporters will quickly want to forget due to the performance.

Enzo Fernandez’s second-half header proved to be the difference maker on the day, but it was a game dominated by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday (3 April).

Tottenham thought they had equalised later in the game when Pape Matar Sarr found the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out courtesy of VAR.

The Blues had also had a goal ruled out due to VAR, which also could have changed proceedings, but Postecoglou’s side had struggled throughout the match to make much of an impact.

Ange Postecoglou showcases a lack of emotion

This loss marked Tottenham’s 16th defeat of the season in the Premier League out of their outings to date, as their fate is almost sealed as a bottom-half club for this campaign.

Spurs fans were visibly frustrated by the performance after the final whistle, and they let their players know all about that as they went across to them.

As per a report by ESPN (3 April), Postecoglou opted to hung back at the final-whistle rather than go across with the players to the away end.

It is suggested Postecoglou has “finally had enough risk for one evening” in terms of riling his own supporters.

Tottenham are relying on the Europa League

Whether Postecoglou wants to stay at Spurs remains unknown as his frosty relationship with the fans showcases no signs of thawing any time soon.

However, his future could very much be dependent on their Europa League campaign, which is their only chance at claiming silverware this season.

Daniel Levy had set Postecoglou the goal of securing European football this season, and winning this competition is now the only way of achieving that feat.

However, Levy has already been looking at other suitors who could replace the Australian as Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Fulham manager Marco Silva are top of the list right now.
