Postecoglou complaints heard as Levy dubbed ‘incredible’ at Tottenham
Tottenham are on the verge of seeing their entire season fall apart once and for all after what happened in Alkmaar on Thursday night.
Spurs’ Europa League last 16 tie hangs in the balance after losing 1-0 at AZ (6 March), and next week’s second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium represents the whole pendulum of the season.
It could perhaps also dictate the future of the massively under-pressure Ange Postecoglou, whose team are almost certain to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League and have no other route to European qualification for 2025-26.

Postecoglou ‘gamechanger’ still on offer with one last chance
Despite all their troubles on the pitch this season, Tottenham still have one final opportunity to rekindle Postecoglou’s career in North London, according to Scott Minto.
The former Chelsea and West Ham man, live on talkSPORT (7 March, 10:29), claims while matters are productive under Daniel Levy off the pitch, Postecoglou is in the last chance saloon.
Should a heavily scrutinised Tottenham overcome the AZ deficit next Thursday (13 March) and win the Europa League – a first major trophy in 17 years – Minto argues it would be a “gamechanger” and would set Postecoglou up for the future.
“There are lot of similarities between Manchester United, for example, and Spurs. Daniel Levy is one of the most incredible businessmen out there,” Minto explained.
“And hopefully for Spurs, they will bring in money from what he’s doing which will make it less of a PSR problem. He has spent money, but it’s all about the wages and the players he’s bringing in, and the type of player he’s bringing in is the Gray and Bergvall future types.
“Postecoglou complains he needs players fit, which perhaps his style of play doesn’t lend itself to, but honestly if he wins this game and then wins the Europa League, that is an absolute gamechanger. First major trophy since 2008 and qualifying for the Champions League – give him the chance, he deserves that.”

Tottenham face Bournemouth in the Premier League first
While all eyes, ears and nerves will naturally be geared towards Thursday and AZ from the Tottenham fans, the matter of another Premier League fixture comes sooner.
Bournemouth and potential Spurs managerial target Andoni Iraola are the next visitors to N17 this Sunday (9 March), having enjoyed a stellar season so far which has them on track for Europe for the first time in their history.
Dominic Solanke will miss the chance to face his former club in the home clash, having limped off just 17 minutes after returning against Alkmaar on Thursday.
POS | Premier League table | PLD | PTS | GD |
7 | Bournemouth | 27 | 43 | 13 |
8 | Brighton | 27 | 43 | 5 |
9 | Fulham | 27 | 42 | 4 |
10 | Aston Villa | 28 | 42 | -5 |
11 | Brentford | 27 | 38 | 5 |
12 | Crystal Palace | 27 | 36 | 2 |
13 | Tottenham Hotspur | 27 | 33 | 14 |
That just about sums up Spurs’ campaign, with Postecoglou having struggled with a lengthy list of injuries for months and been forced to put square pegs in round holes to mixed success.
It has also seen youngsters exposed to more football than was intended to be the case, though this could benefit Spurs moving forward with big-hitters likely to seek a move should they not be competing in Europe next season.
