Postecoglou blow as ‘key Tottenham figure to leave in days’
Ange Postecoglou’s summer is not off to a good start as news emerges of an expected key departure from Tottenham.
The Australian has earned a break away from a hectic second season in charge of Spurs after guiding the club to Europa League glory.
The gruelling 60-game campaign came to an end last Sunday (25 May), as Spurs lost 4-1 to Brighton to end the league season in which they finished only one spot above the relegation zone.
Postecoglou still awaits news of his future in North London, with Daniel Levy currently holding all the chips, but will nonetheless be displeased by the latest news emerging from North London.

West Brom set to make formal approach for Ryan Mason
Postecoglou never missed a beat in thanking both his players and staff at every opportunity for their contributions to Tottenham’s success.
The Australian has made a habit of changing his staff at each club he has been at, and kept on Ryan Mason as part of his staff when starting his role with the Lilywhites.
He is about to suffer a major blow, though, as the Daily Mail reports (27 May) that West Bromwich Albion are set to make a formal approach for Mason.
Year | Games in Charge | Wins | Draws | Losses |
2021 | 7 | 4 | 0 | 3 |
2023 | 6 | 2 | 1 | 3 |
Mason has been associated with the Lilywhites for 25 years, and has worked under the tutelage of three of Tottenham’s last four managers, twice acting as an interim.
Postecoglou will no doubt rue the loss of his assistant, given the former academy product’s deep ties and knowledge of Spurs, as well as his close personal relations with the players.
While Mason has yet to make any formal decision over his future, it is now widely expected he will take on one of the top vacant jobs in the Football League.

Mason’s experience could benefit Spurs
Mason has won plenty of plaudits from Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and now Postecoglou for his development as a coach since his playing career ended prematurely due to a horrific head injury.
The former England international made no secret of his ambition to step up to lead Spurs, but Daniel Levy has never truly considered him a viable candidate for the role.
The 33-year-old has accrued plenty of experience, despite his relatively young age, and a solid spell in a senior role elsewhere could set him up to return in better stead to lead his boyhood club.
