Pochettino sends classy five-word message after Tottenham triumph v Man United

Tottenham ended their 17-year trophy drought as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final, and former manager Mauricio Pochettino has had his say.

Ange Postecoglou has brought silverware to Tottenham in his second season in charge, and will hope that success in Bilbao means he keeps his job.

Postecoglou is the first Tottenham manager to win a trophy since Juande Ramos in 2008, with the likes of Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho failing to achieve this.

Pochettino built a particularly strong side which finished second in 2016-17, but never won any silverware, but he has now praised Postecoglou’s team.

Pochettino praises Tottenham after Europa League win

Pochettino was held in high regard at Spurs, but his move to Chelsea last year lost him a lot of popularity among Tottenham fans.

However, it is clear that his London allegiance still lies with Tottenham, and the Argentinian is clearly delighted that his former side finally tasted glory.

Pochettino linked with Spurs return

Pochettino’s name has been mentioned a lot by Spurs fans this season with Postecoglou’s future uncertain, and there is still a chance that the Australian is not in charge next season.

Despite winning the Europa League, the miserable domestic campaign has put extra pressure on Postecoglou, and a similar league season may not be tolerated next year.

If Postecoglou eventually leaves within the next year, then Pochettino, who is currently managing the USA National team, could become an option after the World Cup next summer.

However, Spurs fans would ideally like to see Postecoglou use the Europa victory as a springboard to kick on from and help drive Tottenham further up the table and make them compete at the top again.

Tottenham are now back in the Champions League, and will hope to invest more this summer using this extra windfall.
