Paul Merson shares ‘crazy’ verdict ahead of Fulham v Tottenham
Tottenham will be keen to make it two wins from two as they travel to face Fulham on Sunday.
The Lilywhites are preparing to travel to Craven Cottage on 16 March in a return to Premier League action just three days after a win in the Europa League.
Spurs secured a 3-1 victory against AZ Alkmaar to earn a spot in the quarter final of the competition, but now attentions turn to the league.
Looking ahead to the London derby clash, Paul Merson has made his prediction in a “crazy” admission surrounding SW6.

Merson backs Fulham to win v Tottenham
The Cottagers have had an excellent campaign under Marco Silva which sees his side in a firm hunt for European qualification.
This would be an excellent achievement, especially considering how poor Spurs have been this season as they languish in 13th.
With that being said, the clash at Craven Cottage could go any number of ways depending on what version of Ange Postecoglou’s men turn up.
Former Arsenal star Merson has suggested to Sportskeeda (14 March) that the Lilywhites were lucky in their last league outing and has predicted a 2-0 defeat away in West London.
He said: “I worry for Spurs because they were lucky to get something out of that Bournemouth game. Ange Postecoglou’s men were battered in that one.
“I’m actually backing Fulham to secure a comfortable win. It’s crazy how none of us gave them a chance to finish in Europe at the start of the season. Now I think they can secure a European berth after they get the three points here.”

Tottenham need win v Fulham
There was a huge amount of relief around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when the Lilywhites secured a narrow win against AZ Alkmaar.
The positivity surrounding this result needs to be built on, especially as the likes of James Maddison and Son-hueng min looked to be back to their best.
Although Micky van de Ven went off with half an hour to go, there was still enough to get excited about with the Dutchman.
Date | Opponent | Competition | |
16/03/25 | Fulham | Premier League | (A) |
03/04/25 | Chelsea | Premier League | (A) |
06/04/25 | Southampton | Premier League | (H) |
10/04/25 | Frankfurt | Europa League | (H) |
12/04/25 | Wolves | Premier League | (A) |
17/04/25 | Frankfurt | Europa League | (H) |
The re-introduction of these injured stars can only be a boost and that should be enough to help get past Fulham regardless of their form.
With a Europa League tie coming up against Eintracht Frankfurt, Spurs need to be in a good run if they are to hit their peak at the right time in the campaign.
