Paul Gascoigne shares why Tottenham have struggled with Son Heung-min
Son Heung-min may have finally won a trophy with Tottenham, but his season in North London has been underwhelming.
The South Korean has long been one of Spurs’ most valuable players, having forged a lethal partnership with Harry Kane.
However, since the England international’s departure, the forward has struggled to replicate his form in front of goal.
Former Tottenham man Paul Gascoigne has shared why he thinks Son has struggled so much this campaign.

Son has endured a difficult season at Spurs
The deal to bring Son to Tottenham must be considered an astute piece of business, considering his influence over almost a decade.
He joined the Lilywhites for a reported £22million from Hamburger SV, but has repaid the North London club tenfold.
This season, he fulfilled his dream of lifting a trophy with Spurs, ending the much-talked-about 17-year drought.
However, this season has been a struggle for the South Korean, which is why he had to settle for a place on the bench in Bilbao.
Son Heung-min’s 2024/25 Premier League statistics | Total |
Appearances (starts) | 30 (24) |
Goals | 7 |
Expected goals (xG) | 7.28 |
Assists | 9 |
Touches | 40.6 |
Big chances missed | 7 |
There are now question marks over his future, with just over a year left on his current deal.
Former Tottenham favourite Paul Gascoigne wonders where their goals will come from amid Son’s troubles, as per Esports Insider.
He said: “Since Spurs sold Harry Kane, I think they’re relying a hell of a lot on Son Heung-Min, and I think Son will be feeling it.
“You want to show everyone what you can do, and I think the pressure is showing when you follow in someone’s footsteps like Kane’s.
“But he’s doing well. I like Son as a player. He puts so much effort in and work rate.”

Tottenham should cash in on Son before it’s too late
Although Spurs supporters may not want to admit it, now is the right time for the Lilywhites to sell Son.
Yes, he must be considered a club legend now, but his best years appear to be behind him.
The crunch point is his contract, and if they do not sell at this point, then he will be available for free next year.
Tottenham could get big money from Saudi Arabia, although a decision is likely to remain with the South Korean.
Whatever happens, Son has given Tottenham some of their best memories during his spell in North London.
