Paul Gascoigne calls out Joe Lewis amid ‘phenomenal billion-pound’ Tottenham fail

Tottenham are suffering a dismal season that has led to mounting pressure on Ange Postecoglou, and club legend Paul Gascoigne is unsure how much longer he will last.

Despite all the build-up about how Postecoglou wins silverware in his second season at a club, the 2024-25 campaign is proving to be a forgettable one for Spurs.

While the club remain in the Europa League, there is growing concern among supporters about whether or not Postecoglou is the right man for the job due to their Premier League campaign.

Tottenham currently sit 14th in the table, but considering they are level on points with Everton and West Ham below them, they could end up dropping as low as 16th after one poor game week.

Tottenham have ‘everything on a plate’

Tottenham’s lack of consistency has caused problems this season, and even though Postecoglou has had to deal with a lot of injuries, there are question marks over him.

Gascoigne recently spoke to PokerScout about the ongoing situation at Spurs and whether the club will axe Postecoglou.

Gascoigne said, “He’s hanging in there. But who can take his place? They’ve had quite a few managers, and they’re not buying anybody. They didn’t really replace Harry Kane. But I don’t know, they just seem to have everything on a plate.

“The training ground is just phenomenal. They spent about a billion pound on that. They’ve got it all on a plate for them. So, it’s a shame.”

The England legend made it clear that Tottenham need to invest in the team this summer, but he also questioned whether Daniel Levy is the right person for Spurs fans to be turning on.

“The fans are getting a bit restless, aren’t they? They’re having a go at Daniel Levy. They’re protesting. Yeah, well, it’s not Levy who owns it. The owner lives in Barbados (Joe Lewis). They just haven’t had the season they wanted.

“But if you want to be the best, you’ve got to buy the best and they always just seem to be relying on Son, which is tough for them.”

Ange Postecoglou may not have a future at Tottenham

Postecoglou might be trying to implement an attacking style of play at Tottenham, but the entertaining football isn’t enough to keep him in the dugout.

Levy has informed Postecoglou that he expects Tottenham to qualify for Europe next season, and the only way for him to achieve that feat would be winning the Europa League.

Failure in Europe could end up costing Postecoglou his job, which would require the club to find a brand new manager and restart the project all over again.
