Oliver Glasner ‘set for great Tottenham appointment’ after Postecoglou sack

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner could potentially replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after winning the FA Cup.

The Australian manager’s future under Daniel Levy at Spurs is uncertain, with success in Europe surely not enough to secure his job.

The North London outfit will face Manchester United in the Europa League final at San Mames on Wednesday (21 May).

Even if the Lilywhites end their trophy drought, the former Celtic boss could still potentially be on his way out, with the Eagles’ domestic cup winner replacing him.

Tottenham a great job for Glasner

Chris Sutton was surprised to hear Glasner being linked with the Spurs job.

The ex-Norwich City ace believes that if Postecoglou leaves, the Palace manager would be well served by a move to the North London outfit.

Glasner’s record at Palace this season.

With the German head coach winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday (18 May), bet365 have him 6/4 favourite to become the Lilywhites’ next boss.

Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off (19 May), Sutton said: “First time I’ve heard Glasner being linked. Tottenham, if Postecoglou does go, whether they win the Europa League or not, is a great job to take in many ways.”

Postecoglou sack inevitable at Spurs

Postecoglou lost his 21st game in the Premier League this season after Aston Villa beat Spurs 2-0 at Villa Park on Friday (16 May).

The North London outfit have endured an abysmal domestic season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Levy fire the former Celtic boss.

Even if the Australian manager wins the Europa League in Bilbao, his exit in the coming weeks seems inevitable.

Tottenham shouldn’t be 17th in the league table with just one game left to play, and there needs to be repercussions.

Postecoglou is arguably still the manager at Spurs because of the prospect of lifting a title in Bilbao.

Nothing can excuse what the Lilywhites faithful have endured in the Premier League over the last few months, with the Australian manager sacrificing the team’s performances domestically for European glory.

The 59-year-old head coach will undoubtedly go down in history if he wins against Man United in Bilbao, but that shouldn’t stop Levy from making the tough call of replacing him at the end of the season.
