O’Hara a big fan of name linked with Tottenham job after Postecoglou sack update

Jamie O’Hara has made his feelings on the manager hunt at Tottenham apparent as Ange Postecoglou heads towards the exit door.

Postecoglou faces the sack at Spurs after what has been a disastrous season, whether or not he leads them to UEFA Europa League glory.

Daniel Levy does not seem to be wasting any time finding the Greek-Australian tactician’s replacement, with several candidates already linked with the job.

Tottenham have made an approach to hire Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac, while Scott Parker also has admirers after taking Burnley back to the Premier League.

O’Hara wants Parker at Tottenham

O’Hara has been vocal about his frustrations with Tottenham in recent weeks and is on board with a managerial change in N17.

The talkSPORT pundit is particularly a fan of the idea of hiring Parker from Burnley, having shared a dressing room with him at Fulham.

O’Hara acknowledged concerns over the Burnley manager’s credentials as a Premier League manager, but claimed that he could excel if given a chance at Spurs.

“Now, this is interesting, it says Ange is set for a summer exit as Spurs keep tabs on Parker”, O’Hara said on talkSPORT (23 April).

“I think I’d like Scott Parker. I think I’d like Scott Parker at Tottenham.

“There’s something about him, I’ve worked with Scott, I’ve been in the dressing room with Scott, he’s a top bloke, a brilliant captain, his football I like, his identity I like.

“Is it a step too far early doors? Maybe, but maybe he needs a platform like Tottenham. I think he’d be alright, I wouldn’t mind it.”

Levy has big decision to make at Spurs

Parker deserves plaudits for the amazing job he has done as the Burnley manager. The Clarets have also lost two Championship games this season, which is two fewer than first-placed Leeds.

However, there are doubts over the 44-year-old’s ability to manage any team in the Premier League, let alone a big-name side like Tottenham.

Spurs need someone who can instil confidence in both the team and the fans after this nightmare of a season under Postecoglou and Parker does not seem to be that person.

That is why Levy should look beyond the former Fulham manager, despite O’Hara’s backing.

The Tottenham chairman cannot afford to make any more mistakes with his managerial appointment after Postecoglou became the latest to flop in North London following the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Nevertheless, it is certain that Levy has a big decision to make at Hotspur Way ahead of the summer.
