Neville reveals Levy exit rumour he’s heard after Rooney-Tottenham speech

Gary Neville has revealed what he’s heard about Daniel Levy and the owners selling Tottenham amid backlash from the fans.

Speaking on Sky Sports Overlap, the former Manchester United defender believes that Ange Postecoglou needs to stay at the club.

He has called for a change in ownership and operations as Spurs currently sit in 15th place after 23 games.

Wayne Rooney said on 30 January at 23:30: “I think, you know, with how honest he is, and we had it with van Gaal. Sometimes you can be too honest. I think sometimes that comes back to kill you. With Ange, the injuries have absolutely killed him.”

Neville responded at 24:05: “What I’m getting here is, all of us want Ange to stay, but will Daniel Levy keep him? That’s the question.

“The rumour is they are trying to sell it but that’s not going to happen quickly, is it?

“There are rumours around Tottenham that they are looking to get out and the ownership (will) change.

“You can say something has to change. It can only be the owners sell or the manager changes.”

Tottenham need a change in the way the club operates

Levy has been at the club for far too long and is an extremely unpopular person among the fanbase.

While results are poor under Postecoglou, there is not as much hostility towards him as there is towards the chairman.

Despite the club doing well financially, poor decisions have been made on player recruitment, managers and the club structure.

Fans will be baffled that if Postecoglou has stayed when the club are in the bottom six come February, why was Mauricio Pochettino sacked just months after taking them to the Champions League final?

Not only did he get the right results, he played good football, introduced youngsters, worked within tight constraints and never threw the owners under the bus.

If Spurs get knocked out of the Carabao Cup, it may be the end of Postecoglou’s era at the club.
