Micky van de Ven set to fly into London on Saturday to seal Tottenham transfer – Fabrizio Romano
Tottenham are now on the verge of completing a deal to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven with the player set to fly into London on Saturday (5 August), according to Fabrizio Romano.
Taking to his personal Twitter account on Friday 4 August, Romano reported that the 22-year-old will jet into the English capital to finally seal his move to join Ange Postecoglou’s new Tottenham revolution.
The Italian transfer guru also reported via Twitter on Friday (4 August) that Spurs were in advanced talks to sign the 22-year-old Netherlands international and the Londoners were waiting for Wolfsburg to give the “final green light” for the deal to be completed.
However, it looks as if the green light has been given for Spurs to seal their sixth signing of the summer.
Romano tweeted: “Micky van de Ven will fly to London on Saturday in order to complete his move to Tottenham.”
No Lenglet move?
This is yet another excellent piece of business completed by Spurs and Postecoglou as the Australian looks to kick off his new Tottenham Hotspur revolution.
After signing Dejan Kulusevksi on a permanent basis from Juventus and also adding James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Guglielmo Vicario to his squad, Tottenham certainly look well-stocked heading into the campaign.

And Van de Ven is just the defensive addition they need, given his burgeoning potential, current defensive class and suitability to Postecoglou’s progressive tactical system.
Not only is he progressive and proactive with his play on the ball where he ranks in the top seven per cent of all centre-backs across Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons, as per FBref, which shows his ability to bring the ball out from the back – a trait that Postecoglou can take full advantage of, but he is exceptionally quick which could prove incredibly useful in Spurs’ potential high-line which Postecoglu incorporated excellently at Celtic.
Given his knack for playing on the left-side at centre-back, it may mean that Tottenham could shelve all plans to resign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis. The North Londoners won’t be worrying one bit as Van de Ven can certainly be considered an upgrade.
In other Tottenham news, it is a big season ahead for one key Spurs attacker after an underwhelming campaign last term.
