Micky van de Ven contract update emerges at Tottenham as Liverpool chase lost cause
Micky van de Ven has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool.
Tottenham are in crisis once again this season, and their latest triumph over Dortmund in the Champions League will do little to distract from that.
Thomas Frank remains at risk of the sack in North London, while several Spurs players also find themselves linked with moves away from what can only be described as a sinking ship.
Van de Ven has been linked with Liverpool, as they eye a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, with a new update emerging on his immediate future at Spurs.
Tottenham set to offer new deal to Micky van de Ven
In a squad that have massively underperformed as a whole, Van de Ven has had yet another excellent campaign.
The 24-year-old has featured 29 times for Spurs across all competitions, with six goals and an assist to his name.
It’s worrying to think where Tottenham would be without him, though it’s just as worrying that his form has attracted the attention of Liverpool.
However, as reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham have no intention to sell Van de Ven, who still has over three years left on his contract in North London.

It’s also claimed that the plan is to negotiate a new contract for the Dutchman on improved terms to try and fend off transfer interest, which will only intensify at the end of the season.

Why Liverpool are chasing a lost cause, hopefully
Tottenham arguably have more room for improvement than any other side in English football right now, and the only way to achieve that will be to add more quality to the squad, not take it away.
Spurs have made some very, very questionable decisions over the last 12 months, but it would be beyond baffling if they were to even consider an exit for Van de Ven, especially given the fact that he is under contract until 2029.
There’s no reason to sell, and certainly not for anything other than a club-record fee.
Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid for a reported £88million remains their biggest-ever sale, and Van de Ven should cost any European side almost double that.
If Tottenham sanctioned his departure, one can only wonder how toxic the feeling towards the club would be.
