Michael Carrick odds slashed to be new Tottenham manager as sack announced
Michael Carrick is a surprise contender to be the new Tottenham manager after Ange Postecoglou was sacked on Friday.
Postecoglou, 59, led Spurs to the Europa League title this season. However, an abysmal Premier League campaign, which culminated in a 17th-placed finish, has led to Daniel Levy cutting ties with the straight-talking Australian.
Postecoglou leaves Spurs after two seasons and now the search is on for his replacement.

Carrick sacked by Middlesbrough, now contender for Tottenham
Middlesbrough sacked Carrick, 43, on Wednesday, 4 June.
The former Tottenham midfielder was the longest-serving manager in the Championship at the time of his dismissal after originally joining the Teesside club in October 2022.
Carrick was widely praised for his leadership at the Riverside. However, back-to-back finishes outside of the Championship play-off positions have led to him being dismissed.

He’s now got a shot at failing upwards with Tottenham.
BetVictor have installed the ex-England international as the 8/1 third-favourite to succeed Postecoglou in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank (1/2) is currently their odds-on favourite while Fulham’s Marco Silva (5/1) is also a strong contender.
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner (12/1) and former West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, who’s now at Valencia, is a surprise inclusion (12/1).

Carrick odds drop as Tottenham sack Postecoglou
Tottenham News has previously covered that Carrick’s odds of being the new Spurs manager were at 14/1.
However, he now seems to be among the front-runners at this early stage in the process that will see Levy fill the new managerial vacancy he’s created in North London.
Carrick would no doubt be an underwhelming choice if Spurs were to go with him.
He was a popular player during his time at White Hart Lane between 2004 and 2006. However, the former Manchester United player and caretaker manager has gone backwards at Middlesbrough and it’s never a good idea for a top Premier League club to pick up a coach who’s been dismissed in the league below.
