Michael Carrick could still replace Thomas Frank at Tottenham after latest developments

Thomas Frank remains under big sack pressure at Tottenham and there are already rumours about who could replace him.

Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League and are just eight points clear of the relegation zone as they head into the final 15 games of the season.

However, the North London side are faring much better in the Champions League, finishing in the top eight of the group phase and progressing straight through to the last 16.

Tottenham beat Frankfurt 2-0 on Wednesday evening in their final game before the knockout rounds, providing Frank with a bit of respite from the constant negativity.

Paul Scholes suggests Michael Carrick as Thomas Frank replacement

Frank still has the backing of the Tottenham players despite his abysmal start to life in North London, and it seems he will at least get until the end of this season to turn the situation around.

The Dane’s main problem at this moment in time is Spurs’ home form, given they have picked up just nine points from their 11 Premier League games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so far this term.

If Frank fails to address the Lilywhites’ struggles at home, then he will surely be dismissed in the summer.

Former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Scholes thinks that Michael Carrick could be the man to replace Frank, if he is sacked.

Speaking about the Tottenham managerial situation on Stick to Football, Scholes said: “That could be Michael (Carrick’s) next job.”

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright was in agreement with his fellow pundit, replying: “Good shout.”

Michael Carrick is proving his worth at Man United

Carrick is in interim charge of Man United until the end of the season following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, and he has started superbly.

The former Middlesbrough has led the Red Devils to wins over both Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two games in charge, completely changing the feeling around Old Trafford.

If Carrick continues to deliver for the rest of the campaign, then he will become a realistic option for Tottenham in the summer.

He spent two seasons at Spurs as a player between 2004 and 2006 before eventually completing a move to Man United.
