Mauricio Pochettino return: Tantalising Tottenham hire update after sack news

Mauricio Pochettino returning to Tottenham remains a “tantalising” prospect if Ange Postecogou is sacked, according to GiveMeSport.

The news outlet reports (27 January) that the Argentine head coach is one of the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou, who is under pressure after losing 2-1 to Leicester on Sunday (26 January).

While the Argentine’s comeback would be exciting for the North London outfit’s fans, it remains unlikely in the near future due to his commitments with the US national team.

Mauricio Pochettino perfect replacement if Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou

If the Australian manager is indeed relieved of his duties, Pochettino seems like the perfect person to take charge of the Lilywhites.

Spurs enjoyed immense success under the Argentine manager, with the team regularly competing for a top-four spot and making it to the Champions League final.

The supporters undoubtedly have positive memories from the former Southampton head coach’s time in N17.

Postecoglou had a decent debut season after replacing Antonio Conte in the dugout, as fans were pleased to see an attacking brand of football.

Under the former Celtic boss, Tottenham have caught the attention of many people due to their unflinchingly dangerous approach to games.

The North London outfit seem to play on the front foot from the first minute, but that has also exposed their defensive frailties.

Spurs already have an injury crisis to deal with at the back, and the Australian’s gung-ho approach has only made things evidently worse.

The Lilywhites desperately need a plan B, which doesn’t seem to be the approach Postecoglou wants to take.

Pochettino would be welcomed with open arms, and if things get worse, it wouldn’t be surprising if Daniel Levy started to look for a new manager.
