Marco Silva bombshell at Fulham emerges after Tottenham appointment news

Tottenham have identified Fulham’s Marco Silva as a potential replacement for struggling boss Ange Postecoglou.

Silva could leave Fulham if his £7.5m release clause is met, while Postecoglou did his chances of staying in the Spurs dugout no favours with the embarrassing 4-2 defeat at Wolves.

Tottenham could finish as low as 17th in the Premier League this term but remain in the Europa League quarter-finals, which could be Postecoglou’s final chance at saving his job.

Fulham want Silva to stay forever

Despite Monday’s loss to Bournemouth, Silva is enjoying a successful season with Fulham and could guide the West London club to a European spot.

Fulham Sporting Director and Vice Chairman Tony Khan told BBC Radio London: “Marco’s a huge, huge asset to Fulham Football Club.

“He’s such an amazing person, and he’s so important to the football club. Marco has a great relationship with my father and me, and we really love Marco, and we want him to stay at Fulham forever. He’s a huge part of what we’ve got going for the future and the present, and he’s a great man, Marco Silva.”

Somewhat ironically, the Fulham boss recently showed his managerial expertise in his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on 16 March.

Silva could be a top appointment for Tottenham

It is no surprise that Khan is not willing to let go of Silva easily, as the 47-year-old has been a major success at Craven Cottage.

The former Everton manager led the West Londoners to the Championship title in 2022, claiming a whopping tally of 90 points in the second tier.

He has subsequently established the Craven Cottage side as a strong Premier League outfit that could still secure Europa League football ahead of next season.

Silva’s men have earned plenty of notable results this season, such as their impressive 3-2 victory over league leaders Liverpool on 6 April.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou is one of the worst-performing managers in the Premier League this season and has steered Tottenham into the sort of lowly position that supporters will never want to see again.

If Spurs can reach an agreement with Fulham and Silva, they could get their hands on a manager who appears well-equipped to perform well in North London.
