Luke Littler sends message to Tottenham star after win v Manchester United

Tottenham came out victorious against Manchester United on Sunday with James Maddison’s goal the difference.

The 28-year-old was subject to scathing criticism from Roy Keane last week with the former Manchester United man claiming Maddison is not someone with the ability to make an impact at Spurs.

However, the attacking player soon put any doubts to bed with the winning goal, even sending a message to Luke Littler with his celebration.

Keane’s comments to Maddison led some supporters to call him out given Spurs have had a generally disappointing season this term.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that the 28-year-old seemed to aim his celebration towards Keane when he mimicked a chattering mouth, followed by his usual dart throw and then shushing the critics.

While he was aiming at one Manchester United man, Maddison was quick to take to social media to apologise to another as he sent a video of his celebration accompanied by the caption: “Sorry son”, tagging Littler.

The Red Devils fan was quick to send a jibe back towards the Spurs man as he reposted the video on his Instagram story (16 February), writing: “I knew you were thinking of me” with a smile.

James Maddison silenced critics with Tottenham goal

Admittedly, this season hasn’t been the playmaker’s best although there haven’t been many shining stars in Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Given Maddison has also not been helped by struggling with injuries keeping him sidelined, it’s no wonder that his performances have suffered a bit too.

With that being said, in 22 appearances across the campaign, the 28-year-old has contributed eight goals and four assists which is not a bad return given how much the North London outfit has struggled.

Maybe Keane’s comments on his so-called lack of contribution are what he needed as motivation though as he dominated Manchester United and ran the game with ease throughout.

Maddison is a player with plenty of talent and he has shown that throughout his career so far. However, he has to continue to use the motivation from wherever he finds it to continue pushing himself and producing his best performances.
