Lucas Bergvall shares fresh injury update at Tottenham

Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall missed the last part of the season after suffering an ankle injury.

The 19-year-old injured his ankle in training ahead of the UEFA Europa League semi-final against Bodø/Glimt and was forced to watch Tottenham lift their first trophy in 17 years from the sidelines.

Bergvall was a significant piece of Ange Postecoglou’s chessboard before his injury, and Spurs supporters were horrified to learn the teenager would be out for the remainder of the season.

However, with the campaign now finished, the Swede has provided an update on his injury.

Bergvall is the future of Tottenham

Bergvall had featured 45 times in all competitions for Tottenham before his injury setback.

Of those 45 appearances, 12 were made in the Europa League, with Bergvall starting 10 matches in the competition. In a short space of time, the young sensation cemented his position as a regular starter for Postecoglou.

As a result, at only 19 years of age, the sky truly is the limit for Bergvall. However, Postecoglou’s future could have a big impact on the midfielder’s development.

If a new manager is appointed, they might not hand Bergvall as many first-team opportunities next season, which could stunt his growth in North London. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what decision Levy makes and how this impacts Bergvall going forward.
