Levy to make ‘major’ changes at Tottenham, new hire to start within days

Daniel Levy is set to bring in new faces to oversee a complete upheaval at Tottenham this summer.

Levy witnessed Tottenham lift just their second trophy in his 24-year tenure as chairman when Ange Postecoglou’s side beat Manchester United 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao (21 May).

This success coincided with Tottenham’s worst Premier League finish, with the squad proving incapable of competing on multiple fronts.

Questions have landed at the desk of Ange Postecoglou, whose long-term prospects at Tottenham are looking increasingly tenuous.

With UEFA Champions League football to contend with next season, Levy will hope to build on the forward momentum of Spurs’ achievements by bringing in new faces.

Vinai Venkatesham is set to launch major changes

Levy has already secured the services of Venkatesham, who is set to take over as Tottenham’s Chief Executive Officer after holding the same position at Arsenal previously.

The Lilywhites’ bitter rivals have been the envy of the North London outfit for the last few years, with Venkatesham a key cog in the Gunners’ operations during his time at the Emirates.

As reported by Football London on Friday (30 May), Venkatesham is set to officially begin his role next week as Tottenham undergo “major” changes from the top to the bottom of the club.

The 44-year-old is set to launch major changes and appraisals when he begins his role at Tottenham, which will have an impact on key departments.

With the futures of Postecoglou and key players like Cristian Romero still up in the air, Levy will hope his new hire will be able to hit the ground running.

The final form of Tottenham’s reshuffle at the top is still unclear, with uncertainty over how Venkatesham’s arrival will affect the roles of Johan Lange and, in particular, Scott Munn.

Levy has been in talks with a whole host of potential replacements for Postecoglou. However, the decision is being delayed, with no clear communication on the matter being shared.

It is therefore plausible that the 63-year-old is hesitant to make the final call until the other moving parts across the club’s hierarchy are resolved.
