Leeds star Gnonto reacts to Destiny Udogie message amid Tottenham transfer rumours

Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has reached out to Destiny Udogie at Tottenham.

The left-back is currently away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the resumption of the post-season international break.

This saw the 22-year-old link up with the senior Italy side, while the Leeds man has joined the U21 outfit for the youth edition of the European Championships.

This hasn’t stopped the winger from reacting to a social media message from Udogie as a potential transfer hangs in the balance in N17.

Gnonto and Udogie react amid Tottenham transfer links

It is fair to say that the Spurs defender is coming off the back of a difficult season from a personal perspective.

After such a superb debut campaign, the ex-Udinese youngster struggled with injuries and his form slumped at times as a result.

That saw him limited to just 25 appearances in the Premier League, where he contributed to just one goal as he battled with Djed Spence for a regular starting role.

As a result, it is little surprise that the Italian has been linked with an exit as AC Milan has been mooted as a potential destination this summer [La Gazzetta dello Sport, 18 June].

This will be one to keep an eye on for fellow countryman Gnonto, who will be confident of featuring alongside the defender in the senior national team next season.

It is clear that there is already a prior relationship between the two, with the winger liking Udogie’s post, referring to himself as “Blessed” on Instagram (19 June).

Udogie could soon leave Tottenham for AC Milan

At one stage, it did look as if the young defender could go on to be one of the better left-backs in all of world football in N17.

That could still go on to be the case with Thomas Frank potentially set to be the man to get the best out of him moving into the new campaign.

After a link to Rico Henry at Brentford, the Italian could soon face stern competition, but as it stands, Udogie is likely to be the regular starter.

It will certainly be interesting to see if he can stay fit and find a positive run of form to showcase his ability once again in North London.
