Joao Palhinha cannot believe what he’s just learned about Lucas Bergvall at Tottenham
Joao Palhinha and Lucas Bergvall have both shone for Tottenham in the early stages of the season.
Palhinha delivered an inspiring performance against Man City and is already looking like a shrewd signing from Bayern Munich.
Similarly, Bergvall has been praised by Spurs supporters and even bagged his first Premier League goal against West Ham.
With the Sweden international going from strength to strength, Palhinha is in disbelief at what he just heard about his teammate.

Joao Palhinha thought Lucas Bergvall was older than his years
Bergvall recently revealed that he agreed to join Barcelona before eventually switching to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs supporters have Dejan Kulusevski to thank for the 19-year-old joining the Lilywhites, and will be eternally grateful considering how well he has performed so far.
Last season, Bergvall made more of an impact than expected because of the raft of injuries that occurred in North London.
This term, the midfielder has stepped up his performance levels again, with Palhinha admitting he did not realise how old his teammate was.
- Bergvall has a goal and two assists in five appearances
- He has started three games under Thomas Frank
- The Swede has played alongside Palhinha in the hub of midfield
“Top player,” Palhinha said via The Standard on 17 September.
“He’s one of the talents that we have; he’s improving a lot, growing up a lot. I saw two days ago or three days ago [that he’s 19] because I thought he was a bit more older.
“It means a lot, young players that we will have not just in the present but also the future of the club. And yeah, I’m really happy to play with him and all the other players I have on the team.”

Why Tottenham should soon be wary of Lucas Bergvall interest
Barcelona were clearly onto something with Bergvall, but must be watching on with rage at what has unfolded in North London.
Indeed, it is unsurprising that Palhinha assumed that the teenager was older than his years after the shows that he has put on for Spurs fans.
At 19, the midfielder has potential seeping out of his ears, and if he continues to improve at the same rate, then he could become a leading player in world football.
European giants will only be too aware of that, meaning clubs like Real Madrid and Barca could soon be interested.
The best deterrent for Tottenham would be to become a consistent fixture in the Champions League, while winning more silverware would not hurt.
If anything, the Lilywhites should build a team around their phenomenal talent to ensure he remains at Hotspur Way for the long term.
