Jim White shares what Djed Spence could’ve told Thomas Frank after ‘absolutely rubbish’ scenes
Jim White has speculated that Djed Spence made it clear to Thomas Frank that he was heading straight down the tunnel after Tottenham’s latest defeat.
Concerns are starting to creep back at Tottenham, with their latest defeat meaning they have won just three of their last 19 games at home in the Premier League.
Tottenham fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea, with the result evidently frustrating the players in the aftermath.
Both Spence and Micky van de Ven seemed to ignore Frank completely when walking off the pitch, with a lot being made of the incident.
Tottenham players weren’t happy after Chelsea defeat
Nor should they be, when considering the fact Spurs barely laid a glove on a Chelsea side that only recently suffered a defeat against newly-promoted Sunderland.
Guglielmo Vicario was the only reason Tottenham had a chance in the game, which was also the case against Monaco in the Champions League just a few weeks ago.
Spurs stats vs Chelsea
- Three shots compared to 15
 - One shot on target compared to nine
 - 0.10 xG compared to 3.68 xG
 - Zero big chances created compared to six
 - 76% pass accuracy compared to 81%

After the game, boos rang around North London, and Frank seemed to be blanked by Spence and Van de Ven, with Steve Bruce and Jim White making sense of the drama.
Via talkSPORT, Bruce said: “Putting my playing head on here, I want the hell out of here. I don’t wanna be applauding people when I’ve just played absolutely rubbish.”
To which White replied: “Yeah, I get it. Djed Spence, for one, was like, get me off, I’m heading into the home dressing room.”

Pressure is slowly piling on Thomas Frank
While this could change depending on the result Sunderland get against Everton, Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League at the time of writing, which doesn’t seem like a major concern.
However, Spurs have only won three of their last 10 games in all competitions, and one of them was a cup clash with Doncaster Rovers.
That form is dreadful, and given the expectations that are on Tottenham after such a poor campaign last time out, Frank will be feeling the pressure.
To make matters worse, it isn’t going to get any easier, with fixtures against PSG, Arsenal and Man United all approaching within the next four fixtures.
Tottenham face Copenhagen on Tuesday night, and a win is going to be as crucial as ever to steady the ship in North London ahead of three very tough encounters.
