Jamie Donley ‘terrific’ as ‘brilliant’ moment emerges away from Tottenham
Jamie Donley has been on a rich vein of form away from Tottenham and it is certainly not going unnoticed.
Donley grabbed headlines after his audacious long-range strike forced an own goal from Stefan Ortega in Leyton’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup on 8 February.
While the Tottenham loanee would have been disappointed to see the goal pencilled in as an own goal, he displayed his ball-striking ability once again as he volleyed in the winner for The O’s in their 2-1 League One victory over Wrexham on Tuesday, 18 February.
The ball looped to the 20-year-old on the edge of the box after a corner and he thumped the ball into the bottom-left corner with a first-time strike, leaving viewers in awe.

Sam Parkin blown away by Jamie Donley goal
Sam Parkin was among those blown away by Donley’s goal as he described the technique for the volley as “terrific” days after he produced a “thing of beauty” against Manchester City.
The former Luton star was impressed by how the Tottenham loanee managed to get the volley right despite the ball falling to him from the sky and went on to laud him for his rich vein of form.
Speaking on What The EFL podcast (19 February), Parkin said: “Terrific technique.
“Different type of goal to the one that he’s not going to get, or didn’t get, against Manchester City despite it being a thing of beauty.
“But, last night, brilliant one to control [the ball] coming out of the sky, difficult.
“I was going to say an equally good goal, but another very good goal from Charlie Kelman, obviously the other one in this game.
“Rich vein of form, both of these players.”
Jamie Donley shining away from Tottenham
Tottenham sanctioned loan moves for several players last summer, with Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil among those to leave Ange Postecoglou’s team.
Donley, meanwhile, was among a few youngsters Spurs allowed to leave and get first-team experience experience elsewhere.
The attacker has had a fruitful stint under Richie Wellens so far, bagging six goals and five assists in 24 league appearances.
With Leyton sitting sixth in League One after 31 games, Donley could help them earn promotion to the Championship this season if everything goes to plan.
The O’s have a three-point lead over seventh-placed Charlton Athletic and are 10 points behind an automatic promotion spot.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will be pleased with Donley‘s development under Wellens and will hope that he continues shining for the remainder of his deal at Leyton.
