Jamie Carragher predicts Tottenham showdown v Liverpool in Premier League
Jamie Carragher expects to see lots of goals when Liverpool and Tottenham lock horns at Anfield on Sunday.
Spurs will look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat against Wolves when they face Liverpool in the Premier League on 27 April.
With the UEFA Europa League semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt coming up, Ange Postecoglou will be determined to gain some momentum at Anfield.
However, Tottenham must be wary of the threats posed by Liverpool, who only need a point to clinch the Premier League title.

Carragher makes Liverpool v Tottenham claim
Liverpool will be keen to get the job done on Sunday, as they would then be able to celebrate the title triumph in front of their own fans, something they could not do due to the pandemic in the 2019-2020 season.
Therefore, Carragher is confident that the Reds will emerge victorious against Tottenham at Anfield, especially considering the visitors’ poor run of form in the Premier League.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points | Form |
1. Liverpool | 33 | 24 | 7 | 2 | 44 | 79 | WWLWW |
16. Tottenham | 33 | 11 | 4 | 18 | 10 | 37 | LLWLL |
The Sky Sports pundit backed his former club to earn a ‘comfortable’ win against Spurs, predicting a 3-1 win in their favour.
“Manchester United won’t be able to cope with the intensity of Bournemouth and will taste defeat again, while Liverpool will win the title with a comfortable win over Spurs”, Carragher wrote on Super6.

Spurs can cause upset at Anfield
It would be a huge boost of confidence for Tottenham if they could spoil Liverpool’s title-winning party by causing an upset at Anfield.
The North London giants are very capable of it if their players are firing on all cylinders on matchday.
However, Postecoglou will have one eye on the Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt on Thursday (1 May) and may not want to push his players to their limits on Merseyside.
That is why it will not be a surprise if Spurs succumb to their 19th Premier League defeat this weekend.
Having fallen to 16th place in the league, Postecoglou’s side do not have anything to play for and are left with no choice but to place all their hopes in the Europa League.
