Jamie Carragher predicts a first-ever outcome in Tottenham v Bournemouth
Tottenham will be eager to put their midweek Europa League disappointment to one side when facing Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Spurs were beaten 1-0 away at AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their last-16 tie, with the return fixture to take place in North London next Thursday (13 March).
Sandwiched between those two ties is a home league match with Bournemouth, who have enjoyed a superb campaign to date.

Carragher offers scoreline prediction for Tottenham v Bournemouth
Ange Postecoglou remains a man under intense pressure at Tottenham in what has been a pretty terrible second campaign in charge.
Tottenham’s hopes of salvaging the campaign rest solely on the Europa League, but that is not to say they can completely forget about the Premier League.
Ahead of Bournemouth’s visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs sit 13th and are 10 points behind their next opponents.
Bournemouth may have lost three of their past four Premier League games – as many as they had in their previous 18 – but they are still seventh in the table.
Fixture | Result |
Liverpool (a) | L 2-0 |
Southampton (h) | W 3-1 |
Wolves (h) | L 1-0 |
Brighton (a) | L 2-1 |
And in the view of Carragher in his Super 6 predictions for Sky Bet, the visitors will come out on top on Sunday (9 March).
Carragher predicted a 2-1 win for Bournemouth and justified that by saying: “Spurs were poor midweek and Bournemouth will be fresh, so they will make life tough for Spurs.”

Bournemouth to pull off a first against Tottenham?
Bournemouth won the reverse fixture with Spurs 1-0 on New Year’s Eve thanks to a Dean Huijsen goal after 17 minutes.
However, never before have the Cherries won home and away against Tottenham in the same league season.
Granted, Bournemouth and Spurs have spent a lot of time in different leagues, but this is Bournemouth’s eighth season in the Premier League since 2015-16.
If Carragher‘s prediction is therefore a correct, it would mean Bournemouth achieving something they have never previously managed.
Should that be the case, Andoni Iraola may be at the top of the list to replace Postecoglou should Daniel Levy pull the trigger at some point.
