James Maddison shares the love after Dele Alli return announcement at Tottenham

James Maddison has shared his heartfelt reaction to news of Dele Alli returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.

Spurs announced Dele will be a guest of honour for the Arsenal match on Sunday afternoon in news that has gone down well among the fanbase.

The former England international spent seven years in North London and remains a favourite among the Spurs fanbase.

Dele‘s career has never quite been the same since he departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2022. Indeed, he has been without a club since leaving Como a year ago.

But news of his return to Spurs – albeit for just a day – has also clearly gone down well among his former colleagues.

James Maddison loves Dele Alli announcement

Maddison joined Spurs a year after Dele departed, but they know each other well from the England setup.

Indeed, they have often pictured together on holiday in the past, so their bond clearly stretches beyond just the field.

And reacting to Tottenham’s announcement on Dele via his personal Instagram story on Friday, Maddison tagged his one-time team-mate and replied with a love emoji.

Dele himself shared that message on his Instagram account, having also ‘liked’ the initial announcement from Spurs.

What do we know about Dele Alli’s Tottenham ‘return’?

Dele will be a special guest for Tottenham’s North London derby clash against Arsenal.

The 29-year-old will make an appearance on the field at half-time, when fans will have a chance to bring out the classic ‘we’ve got Dele’ chant.

Spurs announcer Paul Coyte will be asking Dele various questions on his time at Spurs, and no doubt on what the future next holds for the midfielder.

Dele remains firmly in the thoughts of everyone connected to Spurs even all these years on from his exit, which shows just how much of an impact he made.

While it is clear his career did not continue on the trajectory many had expected, Dele is still young enough to get things back on track.

And if nothing else, he will see how loved he still is among the Spurs fanbase this weekend.
