James Maddison ‘makes Tottenham plea’ after Postecoglou sack news
James Maddison has made his feelings clear after the latest update on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.
17th in the Premier League but a Europa League trophy: Almost any Tottenham fan would have taken that at the start of the season, though things are still not as smooth as many would have hoped.
Tottenham marked the end of their wretched Premier League campaign with a defeat to Brighton, with the majority of that regression falling at the feet of Postecoglou, who has rightfully shouldered most of the blame.
With a crucial summer ahead, it remains to be seen where Tottenham will turn, but Maddison has made his thoughts on the situation abundantly clear.

Tottenham urged to stick with Postecoglou despite failures
Dating back several months now, it always felt like it had a form of inevitability that Postecoglou was going to get sacked, but things aren’t quite as clear-cut anymore.
Daniel Levy is said to be still deciding over the Australian’s future in North London [Give Me Sport], who has since jetted away for a holiday with his family.
Names like Thomas Frank and Marco Silva have been linked with the job if he does face the sack, but, perhaps surprisingly, Maddison wants to see him stay.
Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses |

Speaking via Sky Sports News (27 May), Maddison said in response to whether he wants Postecoglou to stay: “Yeah, he’s been brilliant. Even at the start of the season, saying ‘I don’t usually win things [in my second season], I always win things’. It’s one of them, we knew that would create a big uproar in the media, with you lot never shutting up about it. But never once did I stop believing that he meant that.
“Managers and clubs can go long periods without winning trophies, but he’s a man who’s always had success. His biggest strength is his self-belief in what he does, and that feeds off into us.”
Of course, after ending Tottenham’s 17-year trophy drought, many would argue that Postecoglou’s sacking would be harsh, but, in reality, it would still be warranted given the failures they have showcased domestically, with very few valid excuses.

Tottenham face make-or-break summer period
Winning the Europa League provided Tottenham with a needed, though perhaps undeserved, boost ahead of the new campaign.
With Champions League football in the bag, recruitment will be much easier for Spurs, though they need to get it right.
After finishing just one spot above the relegation zone, Tottenham will be afforded no margin for error when it comes to the decisions to be made this summer.
That includes recruitment, but also the managerial situation, which will need to be addressed well before any other plans are made heading into the summer transfer window.
