James Maddison sends message to Jamie Vardy after Leicester update

James Maddison spent five seasons with Leicester City before joining Tottenham from the Foxes in 2023.

The 28-year-old established himself as one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League throughout his time with Leicester.

Some of Maddison’s most notable exploits in a Leicester shirt came when he supplied service to ex-England international Jamie Vardy.

Both Maddison and Vardy played key roles as the Foxes lifted the 2021 FA Cup title under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers.

Maddison responds to Vardy’s Leicester exit news

On Thursday, Vardy posted an Instagram video revealing that he is leaving Leicester at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old will always be remembered for the role he played as the Foxes completed the unfathomable feat of winning the Premier League title in 2015/16 despite being tipped for relegation at the start of the campaign.

Maddison commented on his former teammate’s post with a crying face emoji alongside a goat emoji.

Tottenham need Maddison to deliver in the Europa League

Maddison has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season, in an otherwise disappointing Premier League campaign as he has notched nine goals and six assists in 30 top-flight outings.

Maddison is a key player for Spurs

But despite the Englishman’s efforts, Tottenham are enduring a woeful league season and sit just 16th before their trip to champions-elect Liverpool on Sunday.

However, while Ange Postecoglou looks set for the sack, Spurs are still vying for silverware after reaching the Europa League semi-finals, where they should be able to get the better of Norwegian outfit Bodo Glimt.

But to claim European glory, Postecoglou will need his star players, such as Maddison, to be at their very best especially if they reach the final where they will face either Athletic Bilbao or Manchester United.

The former Leicester man has scored two goals and created three assists in 10 Europa League outings so far, and Spurs will need him to build on that.
